Using Low Carbon Bio-Materials
95% LESS CARBON THAN LEATHER
Using bio-materials and producing locally are the two main reasons why a pair of MoEa sneakers emits less carbon than an average pair of shoes.
With FAIRLY MADE®, the leading platform in France for traceability and impact measurement for fashion brands, we run LCAs to calculate the impact of our bio-materials and sneakers.
On average, production of a bio-material emits 2.93kg of CO2 per m2, which is much less emissive than leather whose production emits 61kg of CO2 per m². So, production of bio-materials emits 95% less carbon than leather one.
FAIRLY MADE® study
A PAIR OF MOEA SNEAKERS EMITS 6.4KG OF CO2
FAIRLY MADE® analyzed MoEa products and assessed a ranking of 6.4kg of C02 on average per GEN1 pair.
Considering leather sneakers emit 30.1kg of CO2, MoEa GEN1 sneakers emit 79% less carbon.
Energy consumption of our bio-materials
85% LESS ENERGY THAN LEATHER
At MoEa, we consider all impacts to select our materials. FAIRLY MADE® has studied 16 environmental impacts to allow us make sneakers that respect Mother Earth.
Producing our bio-materials requires an average of 43.2MJ per m², compared with 288MJ for leather. For the same quantity, biomaterials consume 85% less energy than leather.
