The material made from what the juice industry leaves behind.
Every year, apple juice production generates an estimated 30,000 tons of cores and skins. For most of the industry, that residue is a disposal problem. For us, it's a raw material.
AppleSkin is what happens when that waste gets dried, milled into powder, and bound into a surface with the structure and hand of leather. The process is 100% Italian, developed in the textile region outside Florence, using fruit sourced from orchards in northern Italy. The output is a material that didn't exist fifteen years ago and is now the upper on some of our best-selling sneakers.

AppleSkin is Italian from orchard to upper.
The apples grow in the north, in cool mountain valleys that produce some of Europe's best fruit. The juice industry presses them and sets the cores and skins aside.
That residue travels to the textile region outside Florence, where it is dried, milled, and worked into a finished material.

How it's made

Dry & mill
The fruit waste is dried and milled into a fine apple powder.

Bind
The powder is bound onto a textile backing and worked into a continuous roll with the hand of leather.

Finish
It is cut, colored with natural pigments, and stitched into the upper of your sneakers.

What is AppleSkin?
AppleSkin is a vegan leather made from the cores and skins left over by the apple juice industry. The fruit waste is dried, milled into a powder, and bound onto a textile backing to create a durable, leather-like material.
Is AppleSkin real leather?
No. AppleSkin contains no animal hide. It is a plant-based alternative that looks and feels like leather, without the animal impact.
Is AppleSkin™ certified?
Yes. AppleSkin is PETA-Approved Vegan, USDA BioPreferred, and certified vegan. It is colored with pigments from natural sources.
Is it durable?
Yes. Our materials undergo rigorous flex testing and are only approved if they withstand thousands of cycles without a single defect. Tested in lab and by more than 10,000 satisfied customers.
How do I care for my apple sneakers?
Wipe them with a soft, damp cloth and let them air dry. Avoid soaking, direct heat, and harsh solvents. Our sneaker cleaning kit helps keep them looking new.
